M83 | It’s like an M80 plus 3
For me to find a way to connect this band to the 4th of July weekend is a stretch, but try and follow along…
Fireworks…. Firecrackers… M80’s… M83
Make sense? I didn’t think so.
I LOOOOOVE this sound. Anyone who grew up in the 80’s with Molly Ringwald and movies such as 16 Candles will feel a weird connection to M83. They sound like “Breakfast Club” meets ‘Twilight” or better yet… “Pretty in Pink” meets “Celebrity Rehab” or “Long Duk Dong” meets “Lindsay Lohan”. So poppy yet so dark…
I think Long said it best…. “oooh, sexy girlfriend.”

Billie Jean | What would a music blog be without a tribute to MJ
First and foremost. R.I.P. Michael Jackson
Thriller is one of the top 10 albums of all time. You can’t dispute it, so don’t even try.
One of my favorite songs from the Thriller album is Billie Jean (along with a billion other fans). I also believe that remakes of music by other artists are a tribute to the influencial nature of the original. There is somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 versions of Billie Jean on iTunes. That is respect.
Of all of my favorite MJ songs, Billie Jean is top ten. Of my favorite MJ remakes, Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog fame) has made perhaps the best of the bunch.
I hope you enjoy the origianl and the remake alike. Gone but never forgotten.
